| I discovered the wonderful world of artist bears quite by accident when on a shopping trip to Brighton in 1993. I saw a limited edition Hermann bear, was told about the shop 'Bears & Friends' went in for a quick look and that was that!! The next stop was a visit to Teddies 93 where I bought a piece of mohair and a pattern. The result was not what I was hoping for and I decided that the bear would have been better with bigger feet, fatter legs, longer arms etc. so I set about designing my own - and of course it is impossible to stop with one bear! I exhibited at my first fair later that year and have been going strong ever since. My bears are all my own work, from designing to completion. Over the years my style has evolved, but the one constant has been my aim to create bears with a kind and gentle expression. I find that most people who approach my stand at fairs exclaim 'what lovely faces'. That is exactly the reaction I hope for! If you see me at a Fair I will be with my partner Paul who acts as porter, chauffeur and salesman but readily admits that he does not have an artistic bone in his body - he did attempt to learn to knit (but the less said about that the better!) Most of my bears are one-of-a-kind, but if the bear that catches your eye has been adopted, it may be possible to create something similar. I welcome commissions and relish a challenge. Over the years my bears have found new homes in Japan, Canada, USA, South Africa, Australia and in many countries of Europe. My bears have appeared in Teddy Bear Times, Teddy Bear Scene, Teddy Bear Club International, Teddy Bear & Friend (USA) and the part-work The Wonderful World of Teddy Bears carried an artist profile in issue 34. I also write a regular 'how-to' feature for Teddy Bear Club International. I hope you enjoy your visit to my site and look forward to perhaps seeing you at a Fair soon! |

The components and construction of the bears make them unsuitable for children under 14 years. |
